Dr. Şebnem Köşer Akçapar’s research areas include marriage migration, forced migration, labor migration, diaspora formation and political mobilization. The topics of two days’ seminar will be "Syrian Urban Refugees in West Asia" and "Turkish Family and Gender in a Changing Society". First day, the seminar will discuss the historical and political background, gender dynamics, and urban refugee situation. In addition, we will take a closer look at today's most pertinent family issues such as gendered divisions of labor, sexuality, dating, cohabitation, marriage and divorce, domestic violence and family policies at second day.
