The College of Social Sciences at National Taiwan University and Texas A&M Bush School of Government and Public Service have formally signed the Taiwan MVP Memorandum of Understanding for international cooperation.
On February 11, 2026, the College of Social Sciences at National Taiwan University (NTU) formally signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Bush School of Government and Public Service at Texas A&M University (TAMU) to launch the Taiwan as the Most Valuable Partner (Taiwan MVP) initiative. This milestone marks a new phase in the Taiwan–U.S. partnership in international affairs and the social sciences. Supported by Taiwan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the ceremony was witnessed by Director General Yvonne Hsiao of the Taipei Economic and Cultural Office in Houston, accompanied by Deputy Director General Chen Yu-Jen and Education Division Director Lan Hsien-Chien.
The MOU was jointly signed by DG Hsiao; Holly Hudson, Associate Vice President for Global Engagement at TAMU; the Honorable John Sherman, Dean of the Bush School of Government and Public Service; Ambassador John Hennessey-Niland, program director; and, representing Dean Yu-tzung Chang, Dr. Chen-Ling Hung, Associate Dean of NTU’s College of Social Sciences, and Dr. Jason Kuo, Associate Dean for International Affairs, who traveled from Taiwan for the occasion. Six Bush School graduate students from TAMU, selected through a competitive process, will also visit NTU’s College of Social Sciences in March 2026 with Ambassador John Hennessey-Niland to participate in the first Taiwan–U.S. academic exchange under the Taiwan MVP program.
In her remarks, DG Hsiao noted that the Texas A&M University System and multiple universities in Taiwan have already established a strong foundation for talent cultivation and educational exchange in key sectors such as semiconductors, artificial intelligence, and aerospace. Expanding this collaboration to the Bush School—renowned for training leaders in public service—symbolizes the extension of Taiwan–U.S. educational cooperation from STEM fields into the social sciences, opening a new chapter in bilateral academic collaboration.
