[Registration and Call for Posters] International Conference on Responsive Societies: Strengthening Adaptive Capacities in a Changing World

[Registration and Call for Posters] International Conference on Responsive Societies: Strengthening Adaptive Capacities in a Changing World

In an era of intensifying global risks, the two symposiums brings together interdisciplinary scholars to explore how societies withstand and transform through systemic shocks. The program is structured into two specialized symposiums:

International Symposium on Social Resilience: Focuses on the measurement and conceptualization of resilience. Scholars examine how societal structures and adaptive capacities can be quantified and enhanced across multiple domains.

Featured Keynote Speaker: Rense Nieuwenhuis, Swedish Institute for Social Research (SOFI) at Stockholm University, Sweden

Topic: Inequalities in European Resilience

International Symposium on Social Responses to Crisis and Change: Shifts the focus toward action and innovation. This session explores how institutions and communities mobilize during disruptions, leveraging crises as opportunities for social learning and policy innovation.

Featured Keynote Speaker: Julia Henly, Crown Family School of Social Work, Policy, and Practice, University of Chicago, USA

Topic: Policy Innovation Borne from Crisis – Advancing Job Quality and Financial Stability in the Child Care and Early Education Field

Distinguished Guest Speakers: Ben Cowling, the University of Hong Kong; Paul Yip, the University of Hong Kong; Stefan Kühner, Lingnan University

Together, these sessions generate forward-looking insights to enhance human well-being and prepare for future shocks in an increasingly complex world. Both symposiums feature Poster Luncheons (12:00–13:30) to facilitate research sharing and discussion. We cordially invite researchers at all stages to submit their work. Whether it is theoretical research, empirical analysis, or a research project in progress, all submissions are highly welcome. The Symposium is hosted by Taiwan Social Resilience Research Center, the Global Asia Research Center, and the Department of Social Work at National Taiwan University, and will be conducted entirely in English.
